《失控》中比较严重的误译
如此优秀的一本书，还是被“东西文库”译得错误百出，感到非常可惜。今天终于痛下决心，准备利用重读的机会，用英文版电子书对照，陆续挑出这本书中我认为比较严重的翻译错误（和错别字），供译者和各位高手批评指正！申明一下，我下这番笨功夫，没有别的意思，只是不认同这种糟蹋好书、糊弄读者的做法。欢迎有兴趣的朋友共同来为这本书纠错！
将原副标题“The New Biology of Machines, Social Systems, and the Economic World”（机器、社会系统与经济世界的新生物学）改译 为“全人类的最终命运和结局”并不恰当。
P2，倒数第2行，“机油驱动的机械”（oil-fed machinery）最好译作“燃油驱动的机器”。【在中文中，“机油”跟“汽柴油”还是不同的。】
P5，第11行，当胡萝卜和奶牛的培育者们不得不在冗长的自然进化基础上进行优选时，现代的基因工程师们却可以利用定向人工进化，通过目标明确的设计而大大加快物种改进的过程。（While carrot and milk cow breeders had to rely on diffuse organic evolution, modern genetic engineers can use directed artificial evolution-purposeful design-which greatly accelerates mprovements.）
=> 胡萝卜和奶牛的培育者们只能依靠可往任何方向发展的自然进化，而现代的基因工程师们却可以利用特意设计的定向人工进化，这会大大加快物种改良的进程。【这里的“While”表示对比，不是“当……时”！！】
P6，第6行，“复制珊瑚礁、探索昆虫（蜜蜂和蚂蚁）的社会性”
coral reef replicas, social insects (bees and ants),
=> 珊瑚礁复制、社会性昆虫（蜜蜂和蚂蚁）
P7，第3行，这是一种我们还很难想象的力量。
（This is a power we have hardly dreamt of yet. ）
=> 这是一种我们做梦也没怎么想到的力量。
P7，第9行，两个“他们”都应为“它们”。该书后面还多次犯这个错误。
P12，第6行，“光头”（bare head）改为“毫无防护的脑袋”比较好。
P12，倒数第6行，“他们回来后，用约定的舞蹈向休息的蜂群报告。”
They report back to the resting swarm by dancing on its contracting surface.
=> 它们回来后，用圈子越缩越小的舞蹈向休息的蜂群报告。
P13，第7行，“这是一个白痴的选举大厅，由白痴选举白痴”
It's an election hall of idiots, for idiots, and by idiots
=> 这是一个白痴有、白痴享、白痴治的选举大厅
【这里显然是模仿林肯的“ 民有、民享、民治”（of the people, for the people，by the people）】
PP13，倒数第8行，“生态学家”（natural philosopher）应为“自然哲学家”。
P15，第10行，“反应”应为“反映”！
P19，第7行，“将会持续整个世纪（指 二十一世纪）”
would continue for the rest of the century
=>“将会持续整个世纪（指 二十世纪）”
【要知道，作者写作和出版这本书时还没到2000年！】
P21，第2行，“应急控制”（emergent control）应为“涌现控制”，因为这里的emergent 显然是emerge（涌现）的形容词形式。
P22 ，第5行，“十八世纪晚期”（In the late 1800s）应为“十九世纪晚期”！
P22，倒数第1行，“朗道尔特博士”（one Dr. Landolt）最好译作“一个叫朗道尔特的医生”。
P23，第14行，“下到大厅里去”（go down the hall）最好译作“沿着大厅走另一头”。
P23，倒数第1行，“以色列人罗森费尔德”（Israel Rosenfield）应为“伊斯雷尔?罗森费尔德”！【拜托，Israel 是这个人的first name，他是美国人。】
P24，倒数第6行，“任何分类过程都有其逻辑问题，就如天朝分类法那般牵强。”
As farfetched as the Celestial Emporium system is, any classification process has its logical problems.
=> 天朝分类法确实过于牵强，不过任何分类过程都有其逻辑问题。
P25，倒数第11行，“碟片”（Plate）最好译作“唱片”，因为它是在留声机里面放的。
P26，倒数第13行，“它不可能有一个架子来存放过去所有的念头”
It cannot have a shelf for every thought of the past
=> 不可能给过去的每个念头都准备一个架子
P26，倒数第6行，“跳动”（skip)最好译作“划过”或“划”，毕竟流星不好蹦蹦跳跳。
P28，第13行，“卡内尔瓦的算法是如此简洁清晰，以致于某个计算机高手用一个下午就能大致地实现它。”
Kanerva's algorithm was so mathematically clean and crisp that it could be roughly implemented by a hacker into a computer one afternoon.

P31 标题“从量变到质变”（More is Different)，在P41第4行译作“更多代表了不同的含义”，不如一并改译成“增加数量会收到不同效果”。

P60，第2行，“被这套包容架构所组织起来的乡镇不但能够建造楼房，还可以设立教育体系，制定规则，而且会比原来更繁荣。”
That is, towns organized by this subsumption architecture can build, educate, rule, and prosper far more than they could individually.
